Climate Concerns
People who were in denial use to downplay the reality of
global warming. Currently, the reality
of global warming is beyond reproach and question. Earth is getting warmer and this in turn,
results in a harsher weather. A longer
and a hotter summer leading to unprecedented droughts and heat waves. A longer rainy season leading to devastating
flooding, landslides and sinkholes.
Humans are left in the middle of these climate
abnormalities to weather these seasonal changes.
The first to suffer are the poor, the middle class are
inconvenienced, while the rich people goes on with their polluting way.
Poor countries have no defense to the fury of rampaging
weather. From drought, to abnormal
rainfalls and to super-typhoons, the republic plays the reactive game of just
applying band aid solutions to a cancer stricken patient that literally needs a
radical operation.
Ironically, the biggest polluters of the planet are also
the noisiest when it comes to verbalizing solutions to global warming. Up to this date, the US and China still
refuses to sign the Kyoto Accord and are just giving lip service when it comes
to actual curbing of green-house emission.
The strongest record of a super storm happened in the
country. Locally, the name is Yolanda and
up to now, cities and provinces are still reeling from the after-effects of the
said super storm.
